Gryfino is one of the oldest towns in West Pomerania and is part of the Euro region of "Pomerania". There has been reciprocal support and collaboration between Gryfino and Schwedt/Oder on municipal, economic, cultural and sporting levels for years. Many contacts and a lively exchange of experiences between institutions, businesses and organisations are enhancing similarities and the respect for differences. Neighbourly help is a priority. The Schwedt Association for Hospital Aid in Eastern Europe (Der Schwedter Verein Krankenhaushilfe Osteuropa e. V.) has made material donations to Gryfino Hospital in the same vein.
